Style Icon: Courtney Love

If you read my post about my fashion influence throughout the 2010s, then you’ll know courtney2that Courtney Love is one of my all-time inspirations. I love everything about her. She’s unapologetic in everything she does. I want to be like that!

Courtney was born on July 9th, 1964 in San Francisco, California. She had a few musical adventures during her teens, but in 1988 she placed an ad in a local musical zine asking for fellow musicians to start a band. This band was Hole, one of my all-time favourite bands. Hole are an alternative rock band from Los Angeles. They are considered part of the feminist, Riot Grrrl movement.

Love’s style has always been influenced by punk-rock, you can read about it in my post about the punk influence. Her personal style is what I love. Her messy, blonde bob, grunge-inspired makeup, and ‘babydoll’ style dresses make her so recognisable.

Courtney was famously married to the iconic grunge artist, Kurt Cobain from Nirvana. The two were married in 1992. Shortly after their wedding, Courtney gave birth to the couples’ only daughter, Francis Bean Cobain. In 1994 Kurt Cobain was found dead due to suicide. Both Kurt and Courtney were heroin addicts throughout their lives. Courtney made it through though.

courtney5Her whole vibe is everything to me, I used to cut and bleach my hair so I looked like her (and Drew Barrymore), I take inspiration on my makeup from her too. She is just overall badass, everything I want to be.

Lana.
